Here’s how this one actually happened. I had a big triangular druzy agate — gorgeous raw sparkle — and somewhere between the bench and the setting, the top corner snapped clean off.
So I did what any reasonable jeweler does: I grabbed my torch and fixed it into a heart. The prong setting was fabricated entirely by hand to cradle that specific shape — every finger of silver formed around this exact stone. Flip it over and there’s a botanical stamp pressed into the back, a little hidden detail for the person who looks closer.
Chaos. Torch. Better than the original plan.
